Now we have a boat
So, I have had a bass boat for years, but it has been in storage for 5-6 years. I had no idea when I put it into storage that it would be that amount of time before it came back out. I had not properly prepared it for the storage.
It is not anything special.... a 1988 17' Bass Tracker. But it is nice to have a little boat to get out to do some fishing, something I have missed since working so much on the property.
I pulled it out in September to have the entire motor and systems inspected with a fine-tooth comb. We wanted to replace anything that needs to be replaced, along with all fuel lines. Unfortunately, I gave the boat to "my boat guy" right as deer hunting season was starting up. This only means I needed to wait awhile. As long as I could get it up and in the utility building before Christmas, or when the first decent snow came, whichever came first.
So, my boat guy got it up and running this week. I have a few work events on Monday, and was on the last week of my employment before I was retiring. So, I felt doing an up-and-back trip with getting the boat into storage being the only task to accomplish.
I also hauled up some shelving that still needs to be installed, along with a kayak someone gave me. And some wood benches. Fun stuff.
I won't bore you with details on this. I drove up. I put the boat in the building. I checked out the property. I drove home.
But now we have a boat up there to be able to use, and rent out in the future, on the local lakes and in the Black River.
